Hearts, Hands & Home
Hearts Hands and Home – Family Overnight Fee Program
Due to the State of Michigan cutting funds for housing for programs like ours, we now have to turn to funders/sponsors to help offset the fees for family overnight stays. We established this year, the second phase of the Hearts, Hands and Home Overnight Fee Program and have asked major donors and sponsors to earmark their funding to help economically challenged families stay at the House.
If we cannot raise the funds, we will not turn families away, but will have to look to other means to make ends meet.
Through a variety of programs and initiatives, we will be funding the Hearts, Hands and Home program this year. We’ve asked major donors to earmark funds; event funding will be earmarked for the family’s fees and other grant request have gone out to help with the funding of this program
The first phase, Hearts, Hands and Homes Program was initially started in 2004 and received high praise from constituents in our service area. The initial program raised over $175,000 and continued to help offset some of the expenses to run our agency.
There is no other agency, like the Ronald McDonald Houses, that offers a true, ‘home away from home” experience for a donation of $10 per night. When families arrive at our home, it is as if they were walking into their own homes. Meals, beds, counseling services, wireless internet, exercise room, play room, and lodging needs are all provided.
